Lipolysis (Fat reduction) – An Honest Review

Here is an honest review based on my own experiences using lipolysis and how it worked for me.

As always we will start with the function and content of the product to help give you a better understanding and what it promises, as well as what my experiences were while using them so that you can make an informed decision on whether you would like to use this product or not. What makes lipogon different to ordinary lipolysis?

Mapping is relevant to all the different techniques of administering Lipogon. It determines the amount of product necessary to obtain optimal results. The natural mix of active ingredients consists of two components, Lipogon Active and Lipogon Cocktail. This cocktail is what sets it apart from ordinary Lipolysis.

The treatment is performed by specially trained professionals and involves a virtually painless Mesotherapy (defined in cosmetic surgery as a procedure in which multiple tiny injections of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, etc. are delivered into the mesodermal layer of tissue under the skin, to promote the loss of fat or cellulite.) administration of a non-medical product.

The active ingredients are Phosphatidylcholine (PPC), a component of Soy Lecithin, which has the ability to emulsify fat. Lecithin prevents the body from storing fat in the targeted regions and improves the fat burning capacity of the body.

The second component is Deoxycholate (DC), a saline solution (salt solution) that keeps PPC in a soluble state. During application, active substances lead to the damaging of the fat cells making their membranes permeable. This allows the outpouring of their contents into the interstitial fluid that surrounds the fat cells. Transportation takes place via the Lymphatic system which creates the need to drink a lot of water.

The Lipogon difference comes into play due to the fact that we add a non-medical cocktail of herbs and seaweed that speeds up fat metabolism, general metabolism and movement of the emulsified fat into the lymphatic system. It is necessary to emphasise that this procedure is not an alternative to a healthy diet or exercise, but helps to target areas not easily affected by regular exercise and dieting.

Ingredients:

Lipogon Active is made up of:

Phosphatidylcholine (PPC)

  • Damages the membrane of the fat cells in the treated zone, dissolving the fats and expelling toxins.
  • Makes the membrane permeable
  • Leads to the outpouring of the dissolved contents into interstitial fluid surrounding the fat cells.

Deoxycholate (DC) saline:

  • Keeps PPC in a soluble state.

Lipogon Boosting Cocktail (This is a second set of injections administered in addition to the Active cocktail)

This cocktail consists of 4 ingredients that also speed up fat metabolism, general metabolism and movement of the emulsified fat into the lymphatic system.

Butchersbroom:

  • Improves blood circulation and acts as a diuretic and laxative.

Bladderwrack (Fucus Vesiculosus):

  • Stimulates the thyroid gland and has proven to have positive effects in patients with obesity and cellulite.

Caffeine:

  • Creates a diuretic effect
  • Improves cell metabolism

Carnitine:

  • Increase fat burning
  • Improves cell metabolism

Organic Silica:

  • Anti-irritant (Reduces redness and swelling)
  • Promotes skin elasticity

Contra indications:

No suitable for individuals who have and/or experience the following:

  • Soy allergy
  • Iodine allergy ( or any seafood/shellfish allergy)
  • Caffeine intolerance
  • Epilepsy
  • Pregnancy / breastfeeding
  • Heart disease (specifically those being treated with warfarin)
  • History of stroke
  • Cancer treatment
  • Thrombosis

So the simple explanation of the product is this:

It is administered via injection into the adipose tissue (the layer of insulating fat beneath the skin) it then penetrates and invades the fat cells’ membranes, corrupting the integrity and allowing liquids to pass through, making it possible to “flush” the fats out, in theory “killing the fat cells”. But the body’s natural response to anything that is damaged or “broken” is to repair it before it dies out, this is where the boosting cocktail comes into play, the cocktail slows down the repair of  the fat cells in that area keeping it “open” for longer so that all the contents can be flushed out and disposed of (usually through excessive urination).

Side effects:

As listed in the pamphlet above, I did experience a few which will be listed in my reflections below.

Pros & Cons

Pros (Based on my own experience)

The procedure is quick and relatively painless. I am not a big fan of needles yet found that this was completely tolerable; I received 40 injections in total and only felt two of them in the more tender areas. I did not need any recovery or down time, I received my treatment and was on my way. A few days after treatment my skin started changing; it felt softer, firmer and smoother than it did a few days before. Two weeks after treatment is where the real magic happened; at this point the procedure was already a distant memory and I hadn’t given it much thought. I received the reminder I had set for “after pictures’ and set off to the mirror to take my pictures, it was then that I noticed besides the obvious loss of centimetres, my stretch marks were not half as visible as they were before! My skin had completely transformed!

Cons (Again, based on my own experience)

I found myself extremely thirsty the first couple of days after treatment and managed to become quite dehydrated by day 3, leaving me with a severe headache, nausea and a dry, pasty mouth.  Keep in mind that this was my own fault as I was instructed to drink loads of water (more than I needed in fact) within the first few days following treatment as I will be urinating frequently (which I absolutely did, the up and down drove me crazy). The reality of it though, is that there WILL be people who do not follow instructions to the letter so I am going to say this was for scientific purposes and NOT because I am terrible with my water quota and did not take the time to follow the clear instructions given to me  😉

My body also felt tender in areas that were treated, kind of like I was bruised. Now it is safe to assume that this would be the body’s natural reaction to an invasion in multiple areas. The same as some people have bruises after giving blood or receiving an injection or I.V drip, so this is more of a given than a con, yet still a discomfort which I class as a con. If you followed the instructions closely, I am confident that you would not experience these “side effects”; at least not on the scale that I did.

Reflection:

These pictures were after only one treatment and were taken 14 days apart. Besides the clear reduction in centimetres and cellulite, I was mostly impressed by how well this treatment had improved my stretch marks!! I had not noticed any changes while waiting on results and it frustrated me. BUT, all my scepticism had deteriorated the minute I realised that there was in fact a visible difference in my body when comparing the pictures. The last thing we want is to spend our hard earned money on treatments that invade our body’s cells and yield no results! This is not that treatment, this treatment is so much more than a “quick fix” or a “fad” and that is really refreshing. It was worth every “niggle” that came with it.

Conclusion:

A first ever on my blog, 5 stars!!!

Just as every other product on the market today, (weight loss related or not) there are always Pros and Cons.  In my unbiased opinion; the pros immeasurably outweigh the cons, despite the unpleasant side effects.

Honestly we all know that our bodies react to any type of invasion or change. The side effects of dieting are hunger and irritability, the side effects of exercise is fatigue and sometimes sore muscles. In fact the body purposely goes into an inflammatory state when exercising and naturally increases cortisol levels (our stress hormone) while exercising intensely. The point is that any sort of change or outside invasion involving the body creates side effects, this in an indication that there is change happening and the body is aware of it and is working to deal with it or adjust accordingly.

I would have the dry mouth, the headaches and the tender body 100 times over if it means I get REAL results and my money was well spent. Even if I did not lose any centimetres, I would still have been over the moon. I am just so impressed by how beautiful my skins looks and how much my stretch marks have lightened up that I cannot bring myself to penalize this treatment. It absolutely deserves the full 5 stars.

Please keep in mind that this treatment serves as an aid for individuals who wish to sculpt those stubborn areas that have proved difficult to target through exercise. This is NOT a quick fix. You cannot out exercise or out supplement a bad diet, so do not be disappointed if your results mirror the effort you have put into your overall health and wellness. What you put in, determines what you get out. Plus if you compare this treatment to the pricing of liposuction or a tummy tuck, it is a clear winner when you cannot afford costly plastic surgery.

Lilly Bezuidenhout

As a single mother at 21 who weighed 134kg, at the age of 25 I finally decided to take control of my weight and my life. This led me down the road to health. It was a long, confusing journey that proved to be quite challenging with no help, knowledge or support system for that matter.
After a lot of research, dedication and hard work, I lost a whopping 60kg! It was then that I decided this gift of health and well-being was one that needed to be shared.
In order to share my knowledge and experience with others struggling to become healthy or lose weight, I took the leap and enrolled at a fitness school to become a personal trainer. To date I am a qualified personal trainer, sports nutritionist, child nutritionist and mesotherapist and the journey to knowledge has only just begun.
Someone once said: “You give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. You teach him how to fish and you give him a skill that will feed him for a lifetime.” Health and wellness is not a fish, it’s the skill set to be a fisherman. Well today, I want to give you the proverbial fishing rod to your health and well-being.
